Earlier in spring training, Marquez told The Post he was mislocating his fastball too often last season, and also noted that he needs “more rise on the four-seam fastball and more sink on the two-seam fastball.”
So far this spring training, Marquez is meeting those goals. Tuesday night, he pitched four scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and no walks against the Cubs.

A slight hamstring tweak slowed Marquez at the beginning of spring training but in six innings across his two Cactus League starts, he has not allowed a run while fanning nine and walking just one.

McMahon has reached base safely in 10 of his 11 games and has hit safely in eight of 10 games in which he has recorded an at-bat. His .704 slugging percentage leads the Cactus League, while his 1.973 OPS is second.
Clock management: With the addition of the pitch clock this spring, the Rockies have an average game time of 2 hours, 39 minutes through 16 Cactus League games. Last spring, …read more
