A mother-of-five living in a council property has shared a shocking video of a bird poking through a hole in her living room.

Lauren Burford, 23, has been begging council officials since July to carry out long-delayed repairs to her home in Canterbury.

The full-time mum and her kids aged one to eight arrived home from school recently to find birds had snuck in after pecking through the walls, video showed.

She’s worried the birds will end up nesting in her home unless something is done, a concern that pest control has said as well.

Adding to the family’s list of woes, three of her five kids suffer respiratory illnesses likely caused by the dampness and mould gripping her home.

Water spills out of her one-year-old’s bedroom every time it rains at a time when the Met Office is issuing yellow alerts for much of Britain.

Mould is creeping through Burford’s home and she’s had to move her youngest out of his bed and into a travel cot just in case.

Her son’s room is drenched because of the leak, leaving his carpet mouldy and his clothing damp and unwearable.

‘The hole in the roof is above my son’s bedroom and means he can’t sleep in there anymore because the back wall streams with water every time it rains,’ she said.

‘The smell in his bedroom is so awful and you can’t get rid of it, he’s not been able to sleep in his room for three weeks because of all of it,’ she added.
