Woman killed in overnight hit and run in Aurora

A woman was killed Wednesday night in a hit-and-run while she was walking across Chambers Road in Aurora, the Aurora Police Department said in a news release.

About 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a woman hit by a vehicle at North Chambers Road and East 12th Avenue, where they found the woman lying in the road suffering “life-threatening injuries.”

The woman later died at the hospital.

Investigators learned she was walking west across Chambers Road in a crosswalk at the intersection when the driver of an older model white pickup truck made a left turn from 12th Avenue north onto Chambers and hit her.

The pickup continued north and did not stop or render aid, police said, and the truck has not been located.

This is the 34th traffic related fatality for 2022.
