A hands-on impressions of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro — here’s what immediately jumps out

Apple’s new iPhone 14 series comes with big upgrades for those who can spend big, but not much for everyone else.

The iPhone 14 series is here, and I’ve been testing the standard iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. 
The iPhone 14 series are a typical incremental upgrade over the iPhone 13, but a big upgrade for those who use their camera’s ProRAW mode.
Owners of the iPhone 11 or older will get the biggest upgrades, and even iPhone 12 users will benefit from the extra battery life.

After a few days with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, there are no big surprises. They offer similar experiences as older iPhones running on Apple’s latest iOS 16 operating system.

To be clear, I’m coming to the new iPhone 14 from the iPhone 13 series, and differences are almost imperceivable in a single generational jump. And so far, it’s clear that most iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro owners won’t find a significant bump in anything, whether it’s the iPhone 14 series’ performance, design, camera quality, or battery life.

From my 10 years of experience reporting on Apple releases, I can already tell owners of the iPhone 11 or older will experience the biggest upgrade. Even iPhone 12 owners will get a benefit of upgrading to the iPhone 14 purely for the significantly better battery life. 

I still have yet to fully test the iPhone 14 series, and I’m looking forward to checking out the iPhone 14 Plus, which is slated to release in October. But for now, here are my hands-on first impressions of Apple’s new flagship phones.
