Strawberry chicken salads and other new items on chain restaurant menus

Strawberries and other fruity flavors are among the tastes restaurants are touting on their new menu items.

Here is a sampling of what restaurant chains are offering.

Quick service restaurants

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit: The chain has an entry in the spicy chicken sandwich wars that’s available through Aug. 28. Its Hawaiian Spicy Chicken & Cheddar sandwich features smoked chicken topped with cheese, jalapeños and spicy barbecue sauce on a King’s Hawaiian Bun.

Jack in the Box: This chain has a Girl Scouts tie-in called the Girl Scout Adventureful Caramel Brownie Shake. It’s a vanilla shake blended with brownie pieces, drizzled with chocolate syrup and topped with a caramel-flavored crème cookie.

Peet’s Coffee: It’s the “Summer of Jelly” at this Bay Area chain, which has a new line of “boba-inspired” coffee and tea beverages, according to a news release. Permanent menu additions include Brown Sugar Jelly, which can be added to any cold beverage; Brown Sugar Cold Brew Oat Latte, which features cold brew and oat milk; and Iced Brown Sugar Matcha Oat Latte. Summer offerings include strawberry lemon and citrus green iced teas with Brown Sugar Jelly.

Taco Bell: The Irvine-based fast food giant has added Brisk Dragon Paradise Sparkling Iced Tea to its lineup of fountain drinks. It’s the brand’s first-ever sparkling tea, according to a press release. The purple beverage features dragon fruit, raspberry and blackberry flavors with a hibiscus tea base.

The Habit Burger Grill: A Chargrilled Peach Salad features grilled peaches and chicken and a citrus Dijon dressing. It will be available through Aug. 9.

Urban Plates: This San Diego-based fast casual chain with a focus on healthy eating has added a cheeseburger, a double cheeseburger and herb seasoned fries they say “you can feel good about” to its menu.
