WarnerMedia’s new ad-sales boss, JP Colaco, will make his first big pitch to the advertising industry during its overall Upfront event on May 19.

Colaco is a seasoned exec who has worked at Apple and Hulu. He was hired in October to head up WarnerMedia’s US-based ad-sales team that handles TV channels like CNN and TNT, the forthcoming ad-supported version of HBO Max, and more.

The legacy-media company’s ad-sales leadership had been in flux since 2019, when former ad-sales chief and Turner veteran Donna Speciale departed and was followed by some of her deputies.

Colaco is now rebuilding the team’s executive ranks.

He appointed two lieutenants and is looking to fill three more executive roles in the group.

Colaco’s two direct reports are:

Katrina Cukaj, sales and client partnerships lead, who is overseeing the sales strategy across WarnerMedia’a ad-supported entertainment and news brands. Cukaj spent much of her career at Turner network CNN, where she was most recently EVP of ad sales. She joined the cable-news channel in 1999.

Amy Leifer, pricing, planning and operations lead, who joined the ad-sales team from ad-tech unit Xandr. Leifer came to WarnerMedia through parent company AT&T, where she was a planning and operations exec. She also worked at DirecTV, the satellite-TV company that AT&T is in the process of spinning off, and Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Colaco also has three open leadership roles on his team, including:

Research, data, and insights lead
Growth, strategy, and partnership lead
Marketing, creative, and network partnerships lead (This was Cukaj’s most recent role before her promotion to sales and client partnerships lead.)
