Christchurch shooting: Pakistan’s Naeem Rashid hailed ‘hero’, becomes top trend on Twitter

CHRISTCHURCH: The world is still in a state of deep shock after the horrific New Zealand attack at two mosques in Christchurch city left some 41 murdered and others seriously injured.The appalling attack on the country’s Muslim community has caused the international community to come together to offer condolences and express sympathy to the affected families. Amongst the ones who lost their lives to the tragic incident was a Pakistani man named Naeem Rashid who succumbed to his wounds Saturday morning. Rashid tried to apprehend the attacker, 28-year-old Brenton Tarrant, and stop him from killing worshippers who were attending the Friday congregation prayer. In the horrific video, documented live by the white extremist, Rashid was seen rushing to the gunman without a weapon in a bid to avert the attacker with just his bare hands even while his own son Talha got shot at the mosque. Twitterati has since then been paying endless tributes to Rashid’s unmatched audacity and exemplary courage.
