Six-year-old dies in snowplow collision near Edson


A six-year-old child is dead after the truck in which they were a passenger crashed into a snowplow east of Edson Friday afternoon.

According to the RCMP, a GMC truck was travelling east on Highway 16 just after 4 p.m. when it hit the plow, which was stopped on the shoulder.

The man driving truck was taken to hospital with minor injuries but the child was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the plow did not sustain any injuries.

The collision closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 16 for a few hours on Friday as emergency vehicles attended the scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
