A constable from Strathcona County is facing charges for allegedly pointing a Taser at the head of a municipal employee last December, say RCMP.
The alleged incident occurred inside the county’s RCMP headquarters on Dec. 19, said Strathcona RCMP in a Thursday news release.
A similar incident between the officer and the employee also allegedly occurred two years earlier, RCMP said.
Const. Steve Burgess was charged last Friday with assault with a weapon, along with and two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose after a statutory investigation.
Burgess is scheduled to appear at Strathcona County Provincial Court on Aug. 15
He has been suspended with pay since Dec. 21.
