Crews responding to CN train derailment north of Pemberton

Canadian National Railway crews are responding to a train derailment north of Pemberton.

Several cars went off the tracks along the shore of Gates Lake on Wednesday afternoon around 4:15 p.m, about 25 km north of Pemberton, near Birken Lakeside Resort.

Photos posted to social media by Twitter user Owen Laukkanen show several cars in the water.

No injuries have been reported and there are no environmental concerns regarding lost cargo, CN spokesperson Kate Fenske told Postmedia.

“Initial assessment is the cars involved are carrying wood products and that no dangerous goods are involved,” she said.

CN crews are conducting a full assessment of the incident.
