Drug seizure leads to lockdown at Mission Institution

Correctional Service of Canada ordered a lockdown of Mission Institution’s medium security unit following a drug seizure Tuesday.

Mission Institution staff intercepted a package containing marijuana, a potent marijuana derivative called shatter, heroin, and drug paraphernalia. The CSC says the estimated institutional value of the seizure totalled $49,000.

The medium security unit of Mission Institution was placed on lockdown to allow staff to conduct an exceptional search.

Visits have been suspended until the search is completed.
