Ivanka Trump and Jared
Kushner aren’t ‘dignitaries’
In today’s story about the Middle East (“Bloodshed amid ‘glorious day’,” Page A1, May 15), you referred to Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner as “dignitaries.”
I had never seriously thought about the word before so I looked it up. A dignitary is a person with an important position in society, a luminary, a person who holds a position of honor.
The Kushners ought not be seen as honorable, dignified or important. They have never been elected to any office and they are ill-suited for the roles they have been gifted by Ivanka’s misguided father. Ivanka and Jared are adult relatives of an elected president.
