Kevin Durant jaws with Chris Paul’s brother in Warriors’ loss to Rockets

Chris Paul’s brother seemed to be the only one playing defense on Kevin Durant Wednesday night.

No, not Cliff Paul, the mustachioed counterpart from the State Farm commercials. C.J. Paul, Chris’ actual brother who doesn’t look too much like him, exchanged some words with Durant from his courtside seats near the Warriors’ basket at the Toyota Center.

Durant led all scorers with 38 points on 13-of-22 shooting and a 3-of-7 mark from 3-point range, but he still made time when he wasn’t putting the ball in the hoop to jaw with the brother of Houston’s point guard. Durant’s 38 weren’t nearly enough, though, as the Rockets evened the Western Conference Finals at one game each with a 127-105 win.

Late in the third quarter with the Warriors not yet put away for good – down 93-76 with 36 seconds remaining until the fourth – cameras caught C.J. and Durant barking at each other during a dead ball.

“Don’t wake a sleeping giant when he already has 36,” TNT announcer Chris Webber said, without knowing the heckler was related to a player on the court.

“That’s C.J. Paul,” Reggie Miller chirped back. “That’s Chris’ brother.”

“Ay, what’s up C.J.!” Webber back-tracked. “I didn’t know that was you … he and his brother are having a good time tonight.”
