Watch: Bryce Harper crushes a home run after breaking his bat


As the old adage goes, “Not all men are created equal.”

And, as it turns out, not all Major League Baseball sluggers are created equal, either.

During the top of the first inning in Monday night’s Washington Nationals-New York Mets game, Nationals superstar Bryce Harper took Mets starter Jacob deGrom for a ride adding home run No. 8 to his big-league leading total.

Dingers are cool and all, but not exactly that special — particularly when discussing Harper. But this was no ordinary homer, take a closer look at what happened:

This is no illusion, Harper actually managed to clear the Citi Field right-centre field fence with ease (the ball sailed 406 feet, according to MLB Statcast) after having his bat broken.
