ISLAMABAD: Three Senators of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam -Fazl (JUI-F) and four more lawmakers became reason for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s humiliating defeat in the election for the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Upper House of the Parliament on Monday, Geo News reported on Wednesday.
Citing unnamed sources, the TV channel reported that probe into the PMLN’s defeat has revealed that Maulana Attaur Rehman, Senator Talham Mahmood and Senator Maulvi Faiz Muhammad ditched the PMLNÂ in the election.
Only Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haidri of the JUI-F cast vote in favour of the candidates fielded by the ruling party.
Mirza Afridi, a Senator from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and PMLN’s Kulsoom Parveen also deserted the PMLN in the election.
The sources revealed that the JUI-F Senator didn’t vote for the PMLN candidates because they were unhappy for  their party not getting the deputy chairmanship of the house.
According to Geo News, ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif has contacted Maulana Fazlur Rehman to inform him about the result of the probe.
Shocked by the revelation, the maulana said it was impossible that his party lawmakers would not vote for the PMLN candidates.
During his conversation with the PMLN’s supreme leader, the maulana assured him that he would hold an inquiry into the matter and would share the results with him.
