Higher than normal air pollution levels in Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park are expected to persist into Wednesday, Environment Canada says.
The federal agency issued a special air quality statement just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.
Children, seniors, and those with cardiovascular or lung disease, such as asthma, are especially at risk.
