A teacher is in hospital with serious stab wounds after an attack on Wednesday afternoon.
A man in his 40s was taken to the University of Alberta hospital and is in stable condition with serious stab wounds, Edmonton Police Service Southwest Division Staff Sgt. Rae Gerrard said.
The stabbing happened near 97 Street and 83 Avenue.
Downtown division officers initially responded to a call around 4 p.m. at Centre High, 10310 102 Ave., of reports of a teacher who was assaulted, according to police.
When police confirmed the teacher was not assaulted at the the school, southwest division officers took over the investigation.
Edmonton Public Schools spokeswoman Carrie Rosa had few details about what happened, but said that the district was cooperating with police.
