Milpitas Firefighters Local 1699’s annual Holiday Toy and Food Drive seeks donations of food, clothing, new unwrapped toys and cash to give to needy families in Milpitas and Alviso.
This year’s campaign distribution, co-sponsored by Milpitas Fire Department, City of Milpitas, Milpitas Food Pantry and the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at Barbara Lee Senior Center, 40 N. Milpitas Blvd. Families must pre-register to receive gifts.
Before that event, the effort includes the collection of the following items:
Canned food and non-perishable items
Toys for children of all ages, new and unwrapped.
In past years, the Milpitas firefighters have been successful in raising tens of thousands of dollars that help buy new toys, bicycles and sports equipment for the city’s underprivileged children.
To help make the event possible, barrels have been distributed throughout the city to collect unwrapped toys for children as well as non-perishable food items for the Milpitas Food Pantry.
All toy donations may be dropped off at toy barrels located in all city buildings; call (408) 586-2800 for additional barrel locations.
All food donations may be dropped off at the Milpitas Food Pantry at 1440 S. Main St. Cash donations are typically used to buy gifts for older children while the program tends to receive many gifts for younger children.
To send a monetary donation, make checks payable to Milpitas Firefighters Toy Program, in care of Gabriel Borland, at 777 S. Main St., Milpitas, Calif. 95035.
Toy registration is open to residents of Milpitas and Alviso. To sign up to receive gifts, visit milpitastoydrive.com.
On the day of the toy drive, attendees are asked to bring the following:
A copy of each child’s birth record
