Mark Blucher, ICBC’s president and CEO, is moving on.
In a Thursday afternoon media release, ICBC said Blucher is moving to a similar role with Vancouver-based Central 1 Credit Union, effective Dec. 29.
Blucher had been president and CEO since 2012. He originally joined ICBC in 2010 as senior vice-president of insurance.
At Central 1, Blucher replaces Don Wright, who left the credit union in July to become head of the public service for the new NDP government.
“ICBC’s loss is Central 1’s gain,” ICBC board chair Joy MacPhail said in the release. “We will miss Mark’s extensive expertise and leadership but this is a great career opportunity for him. I am particularly pleased he has decided to stay in the province and continue to contribute his expertise here in British Columbia.”
An interim CEO will be appointed to lead the insurance agency while the board conducts an external search for Blucher’s permanent replacement.
