RIO VISTA — A 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck the Delta area Tuesday evening south of town, according to authorities.
The United States Geological Survey said the small quake hit at 8:48 p.m. in an area almost four miles south-southeast of Rio Vista, north of a bend in the San Joaquin River and east of Twitchell Island Ferry Road.
A relatively low magnitude and a depth of about 4 miles below the surface are likely factors in limited reports acknowledging the temblor.
There were no reports of damage or injuries.
