GSP given standing ovation ahead of Canadiens game


Georges St-Pierre returned home to a hero’s welcome.

The 36-year-old dropped the puck for the ceremonial opening faceoff ahead of Tuesday’s game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Montreal Canadiens, and was given a standing ovation by the Bell Centre crowd.

St-Pierre made a successful return to the UFC on Nov. 4, defeating Michael Bisping by rear-naked choke at Madison Square Garden to win the middleweight title.

The native of Saint-Isidore, Que., has suggested that a decision will be made on his next fight in the coming few weeks.
