What: A UPS driver kills three coworkers and then takes his own life at their package facility. Police said 38-year-old Jimmy Lam used a stolen assault-style pistol when he began shooting at an employee meeting, targeting specific coworkers.

What: Fourteen people were killed and 22 others were seriously injured in a terrorist attack consisting of a mass shooting and an attempted bombing at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California. The shooters from the city of Redlands, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, opened fire on colleagues at a Christmas party/training event for the San Bernardino CountyDepartment of Public Health training event. The pair fled in a rented SUV but were later killed in a shootout with police.

What: Twenty-two-year-old Elliot Rodger killed six people and injured fourteen others near UC Santa Barbara campus. He then killed himself inside his his vehicle. The assault started when Rodger stabbed three men to death in his apartment. Driving to a sorority house, he shot three female students outside, killing two.
