The Seahawks have promoted running back Mike Davis from the practice squad and signed cornerback Byron Maxwell, the team announced Tuesday.
Running back C.J. Prosise (ankle) and cornerback Richard Sherman (Achilles) were placed on the injured reserve list in a corresponding move.
Davis, 24, was originally signed to Seattle’s practice squad in September after putting together a solid preseason. He finished with 104 yards on 24 attempts (4.4 Y/A) and five receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown through four games. He’ll add depth to an otherwise depleted running back group that includes J.D. McKissic, Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy.
Maxwell, 29, was originally drafted by the Seahawks in 2011 and spent four seasons in Seattle before signing with Philadelphia. He was traded to Miami in 2016, though was eventually released in late October 2017. Seattle may have gotten a deal on Maxwell, who is still being paid a $8.5 million base salary by the Dolphins (more on that here).
