Stroller shoplifter. Officers were dispatched Oct. 24 to the Safeway at 1677 S. Havana St. Store employees told police they observed a women with two children place two six-packs of beer at the bottom of her stroller. She also added a pregnancy test kit, jerky and two stuffed animals to the stroller before attempting to leave without paying, according to police reports.
Join the dark side. Officers were dispatched Nov. 3 to the 2300 block of Elmira Street. A man told police that both his vehicle and his girlfriend’s vehicle were broken into overnight. There were no signs of forced entry on either car. More than $200 worth of items were stolen from the vehicles, including a cellphone, driver’s licenses, a Social Security card and a Star Wars watch.
Forgetful moment or theft? Officers were dispatched Sept. 30 to the Grease Monkey at 1527 N. Peoria St. An employee told police that a man dropped his car off for an oil change and later picked it up and left without paying his bill, according to a police report. Officers found the man asleep in his car and he told police he forgot to pay. While “argumentative,” he agreed to go back to the store and pay the $133, according to the report.
