Vigil to be held for slain Abbotsford police officer


Abbotsford Police Department Const. John Davidson was shot and killed in the line of duty on Nov. 6, 2017.

A candlelight vigil will held Monday evening in Abbotsford to honour Const. John Davidson, who was killed in the line of duty last week.

Davidson, 53, was shot Nov. 6 at an Abbotsford strip mall by an alleged car thief with suspected mental health problems.

The public vigil will be held at the Mt. Lehman Centre (3240 Mt. Lehman Road) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A public celebration of life for the slain Abbotsford Police Department officer is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 19 at the Abbotsford Centre (33800 King Rd.). Davidson’s family will be present.

The ceremony, with full police honours, will begin at 1 p.m., but roads will be closed beginning at 11 a.m.
