Sean McBain’s Teenage Cancer Trust charity songs bid strikes chord with MSP

An Aberdeen man nearing the end of a marathon charity songwriting challenge has inspired his MSP to lodge a parliamentary motion.

Sean McBain, originally from Torry, made a bid at the start of 2017 to write and record one song for every week of the year to raise money for a cause close to his heart – Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT).

Now on week 49 of his efforts, Sean has received a boost from his local MSP Tom Arthur, who has lodged a motion at Holyrood congratulating him.

The 34-year-old said: “There are many issues far more important than patting me on the back, as that’s not my reason for the fundraising.

“That said, I do sometimes feel there is enough negativity brought to parliament and perhaps not enough stories of what we ordinary Scottish people can do for one another when we put our minds to it.

“So, if I can be the day’s positive story which brings some smiles and maybe inspires someone else to do a similar charitable act, then I’m all for it.”
