Tories take seat in Aberdeenshire by-election


A Conservative councillor has been elected to represent Inverurie.

Lesley Berry has been elected to Aberdeenshire Council with 1,672 first preference votes.

The vote in Inverurie and District was triggered when former Conservative councillor Colin Clark was elected to Westminster as the MP for Gordon after defeating Alex Salmond.

The total number of votes cast in the by-election was 3,471, representing a 30.9% turnout.
