Nationals’ Bryce Harper has bone bruise in left knee

Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper will head to the disabled list with a bone bruise in his left knee, but no ligament or tendon tears.

Harper left Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles after slipping on first base in the bottom of the first inning.

Harper will head to the DL, obviously. Michael A. Taylor comes off the DL to take his spot. One of the reinforcements returns.

The 24-year-old has a .326/.419/.614 slash line in 106 games this season, and his 1.034 OPS is second in the major leagues.

Washington has a massive, 14.5-game lead over the Miami Marlins in the NL East, and the team does believe that Harper will return at some point in 2017.
