Surrey toddler in hospital following two-storey fall from a window

A three-year-old Surrey girl was sent to hospital with serious injuries after a fall from a two-storey window Sunday evening.

Surrey RCMP said the girl had leaned against the window and screen gave way.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. at a home in the 13900 block of 64A Avenue.

Last Wednesday. a Richmond girl survived a five-storey fall from highrise on Granville Avenue, escaping with non life-threatening injuries.

B.C. Children’s Hospital and B.C. Emergency Health Services have urged parents to take window safety measures during the summer months.

​Between 2009 and 2015, 146 children were treated at trauma centres around the province after falling from a window or balcony. Approximately 85 per cent of these hospitalizations involved children between the ages of one and six.*
