Northern California prisoner accused of disemboweling cellmate makes court appearance


An arraignment was continued Friday in Solano County Superior Court for a convicted murderer accused of murdering his cellmate two years ago at California State Prison Solano.

Jesus A. Perez, 48, is currently serving a life sentence, for a 2009 murder conviction out of Los Angeles County, at California State Prison, Sacramento.

Perez now faces another charge of murder for the 2015 death of his cellmate, Nicholaus A. Rodriguez, 24.

According to reports, Rodriguez, who was serving an eight-year term for robbery, was found the night of May 4, deceased in a trash can, his mid section nearly split, with his internal organs removed.

The arraignment will continue at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 4 in Dept. 23.
