Denver metro area temperatures expected to climb to near 100 degrees by mid-week

A wind change mid-week will bring hot temperatures to the Front Range, according to forecasters.

Winds out of the northwest will keep temperatures in the low 80s on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. But on Tuesday, temperatures will begin to heat up with the arrival of southwesterly breezes, the weather service says.

Temperatures will jump 10 degrees to a high of 94 on Tuesday. By Wednesday, the high will be around 96 degrees, forecasters predict.

It will be mostly sunny on Thursday, with a high temperature of around 92.

The metro area will be more cloudy on Friday, when there is a chance for rain showers and thunderstorms in the evening, the weather service says. The high temperature will be around 81 degrees.

Temperatures will dip into the 70s on the weekend, with a high of around 72 on Saturday and a high of about 79 on Sunday, according to the forecast.
