Cubs dominate MLB jerseys sales, Donaldson leads Blue Jays

The Chicago Cubs have carried the magic from their 2016 championship season into the world of apparel, with four players ranking among MLB’s top five most popular jerseys.

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant had the No. 1 selling jersey in baseball since the culmination of the 2016 World Series, based on sales released Friday from MLBShop.com. The reigning National League MVP is followed by teammates Anthony Rizzo (No. 2), Javier Baez (No. 4) and Kyle Schwarber (No. 5).

Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, who placed third, is the only non-Cub in the top five while Angels superstar Mike Trout ranked No. 10.

Toronto third baseman Josh Donaldson (No. 20), was the only Blue Jays player to make the list, which features an average age of 26.5 — the youngest of any previous jersey list released by the league.

The Cubs defeated the Cleveland Indians in seven games last fall to capture their first World Series since 1908.
