The body was transferred to shore by a 47-foot motor lifeboat from the Golden Gate Coast Guard Station. The Marin coroner’s office confirmed the identity of Dang.

A boater contacted authorities after finding Dang’s 10-foot white fiberglass skiff capsized about a mile off Muir Beach late Wednesday morning. A search operation was conducted from the Golden Gate shipping channel to Bolinas.

Rescuers found an ice chest with fresh ice, fish and other items around the overturned boat, according to Southern Marin fire officials. Car keys and Dang’s wallet were found aboard the skiff.

The California Highway Patrol, Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department, Sonoma County’s helicopter Henry 1 and Stinson Beach lifeguard jet ski crews helped in the search.
